MY CREATIVE JOURNEY

Prior to finding my passion for workshop facilitation and coaching, my career was rooted in the commercial interiors industry as a sales representative for leading designer products. Although my responsibilities were focused on meeting a sales quota, I found myself getting in touch with my creative spirit and feeling less satisfied with being focused only on sales numbers. I longed for a bigger vision of sales and got involved in marketing, creative business development, product development and relationship building. My husband, Jon became a life coach during this time and encouraged me to expand into a more creative avenue within the industry. Additionally, I worked with a coach who helped me see myself more clearly and identify my natural talents and gifts. My energy for finding a deeper purpose was ignited and I was set on finding a more creative path yet still being able to earn a living. How could I bridge my extensive sales background with this creative calling and still earn a living?

Part of my sales role was to find new ways to engage clients, share product solutions and deepen relationships. When I was given an assignment to create a relationship building event, I instantly remembered my passion for Ikebana, Japanese Floral Art that I had studied in my 20’s. It was laying dormant until my creative self was called to service. At first I shared this locally but as word got out, I was asked to share it nationally. At the time, I did not realize the strength of this thread. Once aired out in public, I found my passionate self and this event took over my otherwise dull sales role. With the chance to try out this new direction, I soon realized that my deeper self was calling me. I watched my energy shift and felt newly replenished. Each time I shared this workshop, I felt my energy soar and come back into balance, it was palpable. Finally, one time when my boss attended my workshop, she watched this energy shift in me, and reflected back this change. She offered me an opportunity to own this gift as she asked me, you don’t really want to do this job any longer, do you?

My next phase of my journey was to reignite other areas of my creative spirit, and I ventured into training for self-discovery. My journey started with a 3 year study of Realization Process, a form of embodied meditation. I learned to turn inward to listen to my authentic nature. Next, I felt a call to deepen my perspective and became certified as a Purpose Guide, a SoulCollage facilitator, attended coaching school and found Internal Family Systems coaching. As the relationship between all of these trainings occurred, I heard a call to combine these offerings and share them. I remember feeling a deepening of my creative spirt, and feeling a deeper sense of self-acceptance. Although I often felt flashbacks to the sales days where I felt compelled to achieve a goal, I found ways to settle in and welcome the flourishing of my unique gifts. During this initial evolution period, I often found unusual ways to honor my evolving self. As a light-hearted example of this, I embraced the creator in me by shedding all of my corporate wardrobe and after taking my old clothes to Goodwill, I replaced them with an artistic, resale-oriented wardrobe to remind me of this shift in my being. This was so much fun!

Today, I am more whole, more myself and certainly more creative. I am guided, most often, by my intuition and inner landscape. I feel more energized about this next phase of my life, and want to share this awareness with my clients. The Art of Purpose Discovery represents a new form of coaching that helps clients go inward, identify their unique gifts and uses all of the resources I have found along my journey.
