MY CREATIVE JOURNEY
My career was in the commercial interiors industry as a sales representative for leading designer products. Although my responsibilities were focused on meeting a sales quota, I found myself getting in touch with my creative spirit and feeling less satisfied with being focused only on sales numbers. I longed for a bigger vision of sales and got involved in marketing, creative business development, product development and relationship building. My husband, Jon became a life coach during this time and encouraged me to expand to a more creative avenue within the industry. I worked with a creative coach who helped me see myself more clearly and helped me identified my natural talents and gifts. My energy for finding a deeper purpose and creative expression was alive and my path was set on finding a more creativity journey, yet being able to earn a living.
How could I bridge my extensive sales background with this creative drive? Little by little, I found that one of my gifts was to generate ideas and I landed on roles that were more oriented towards business development. From there,I discovered my deep well of creativity and found ways to use this energy to grow business. One significant development was my rediscovering of my love for Ikebana, Japanese Floral Art, that I had studied as a 20 year old that still held meaning in my life. After 5 years of study, I forgot about this passion and then found a way to resurrect it in the interior design industry. I built a relationship-oriented event where I taught Ikenobo Ikebana to interior designers. This proved to be very successful as a way to familiarize clients with our products, demonstrate design sensitivity and to grow business. I was asked to share this event with the national community as part of my job responsibility. Needless to say, it was my favorite part of my job. I travelled to major markets, visiting flower markets, staying in beautiful locations and found a way to replenish my creative spirit. Demand grew for my expertise and I was soon to outgrow the other parts of my role. Once retired from my sales career, I launched a business, www. Mindfulflowers.com whose essence came from my business development role.
My next phase was to reignite other areas of my creative spirit, and I ventured into training for embodied meditation and SoulCollage,an intuitive collage process that focuses on self-discovery. Next,I felt a call to deepen my perspective and became certified as a Purpose Guide, attended coaching school and found Internal Family Systems coaching. As the relationship between all of these trainings occurred, I heard a call to combine these offerings and share them.
On this journey of become more myself, I felt a deepening of my creative spirit, a feeling of self-acceptance of my true nature. Although I often felt flashbacks to the sales representative days where I felt compelled to achieve a goal, I found ways to settle and welcome the flourishing of my creative self. During this evolution period, I often found unusual ways to remember my creative self. As a light-hearted example of this , I embraced he creator in me by shedding all of my corporate wardrobe and after taking them to Goodwill, I replaced them with an artistic, resale-oriented wardrobe to remind myself of this shift in my being. This was so much fun!
Today, I am more whole, more myself and certainly more creative. I am guided, most often, by my intuition and inner landscape. I feel more energized about this next phase of my life, and want to share this awareness with my clients.
